I never heard about Terry Fox and his story until I came to Canada. Once I did, I was fascinated by his determination and the grit that characterizes the Canadian spirit, displayed completely by Terry Fox.
For those unfamiliar, Terry was a young man diagnosed with cancer and had his leg amputated. After that, he decided to run across Canada to raise money for cancer research.
He died young, but we remember and honour his legacy every September with a Run that goes on in all of Canada. 5K or 10K.
Last year, I did my first 10K (which I wrote about here) – I was running every day and was in better shape than I am this year, where I ran only the 5K.
What was different is that this year I raised some money – I am pleasantly surprised to say that it’s close to CAD1000$ (I’ve signed up my company and I was the captain automatically 😛) so I take this opportunity to thank everyone who contributed.

Terry is one of Canada’s most extraordinary personalities, and, as someone said, he should be on the 5$ bill.
I told someone else about this, and that person said… ok, I would support that.
I highly recommend challenging yourself to do one of these runs with the next opportunity. When you run, something magically happens.
No one really likes to run; as my former boss used to say – I ran for 30 years every day, and I never liked it. Yet we’re still doing it.
I took the opportunity to snap a photo with Terry’s younger brother, Darrel – what an example of honouring and continuing a legacy.
I’ve hung out for a slice of pizza 🍕 (I’m like the Turtles 🐢 Ninjas 🥷) and, of course, some live music – I’ve been consuming a lot of live music this summer; some great live music, and the band that played was excellent.
